Elektrobay charge points are integrated posts for EV charging suitable for installation in the street.
They are supplied by Elektromotive.
Access to the socket requires use of an RFID tag to unlock the cover over the socket.
Users report 2 issues with these charge points:
- The socket takes a 13 Amp plug. Unfortunately the cover is a very tight fit around the plug - too tight for some plug types including those branded "Duraplug". However these plugs don't fit into other standard waterproof sockets either including those made by MK.
- The standard Elektrobay leads have blue 16 Amp free sockets at their vehicle end. These sockets are compatible with EVs such as the G-Wiz but are not compatible with all vehicles.
If your EV does not have a blue 16 Amp connector on the vehicle you can still connect if you have a standard 16 Amp connection lead suitable for your vehicle. Simply connect your lead end-to-end with Elektrobay's lead. However you should NOT do this if your EV will exceed the 13 Amps for which the charge post and cable were designed.
